Symbolic Evaluation

Use the arrow from the evaluation palette, or press Ctrl-. (ctrl-key, together with the point-key). This is called symbolic evaluation. 

Solving Equations

To solve an equation, type the word "given" and press the enter key, then type the equation, using the bold equation equal sign and press the enter key, then write "find(x)" (if x is the variable) and use symbolic evaluation.
